Chrome is the new king of browsers, finally beats Internet Explorer

Google Chrome has done it again and is now the most used web browser on the planet, taking the crown from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
The news comes from StatCounter, whose measurements for May reveal that Chrome finally managed to pull ahead of its rival.
This isn’t the first time Chrome has replaced IE as the world’s most used web browser. Back on March 18 Google’s web browser managed to sneak up in front of IE, but that only lasted a few days.
Chrome’s first place naturally comes at Internet Explorer’s expense, but the results show that Firefox is also suffering losses in its user base. Safari and Opera continue to occupy the fourth and fifth places respectively, some way off the pace.
Google’s desktop browser, is joined by its mobile counterpart, which too has a victory to celebrate. Google’s default Android browser has surpassed Opera Mobile and is now the most popular mobile browser.
StatCounter doesn’t measure the unique users and their browser of choice, but rather the impressions generated. Thus, those results don’t necessarily mean Chrome has been used by more people than Internet Explorer. What it most shows, however, is that people using Chrome browse more than those using Internet Explorer.
